RALLY HISTORY
Launched in 1996, the Rally for the Cure® program, presented by Golf For Women magazine, has raised awareness of breast cancer and taken the life-saving message of early detection to hundreds of thousands of active women. In the first year, Rally celebrated modest success in registering 356 clubs and providing breast cancer awareness information to 16,278 participants. Today, 145 of these original clubs continue to participate with 20 of the original volunteer Ambassadors still hosting the event!
In 2006, the program registered more
than 3,300 clubs and gained participation of over 180,000
golfers for this grassroots awareness and early detection
campaign. Eleven years and one million golfers later,
this awareness campaign continues to grow.
Rally for the Cure®
works together with Susan G. Komen for the Cure in its
mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening
disease. Fundraising events, held in conjunction with
the Rally awareness program, have resulted
in nearly $30 million ($7.3 million in 2006 alone) to
support the mission of Komen for the Cure. These outstanding
results were made possible in large measure through
the hard work, dedication and determination of Rally
Ambassadors and their committees.
Increased Participation = Increased Awareness
